Based in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, Brian Ó hEadhra is an acclaimed musician, singer-songwriter, and producer, performing solo, as a session musician, and with acts Brian Ó hEadhra & Fionnag NicChoinnich and McKerron Brechin Ó hEadhra.  Performing traditional and contemporary music and song, he has toured the globe with the bands  Anam and Cruinn and has recorded on over twenty albums over a thirty-year career.

Brian Ó hEadhra & Fionnag NicChoinnich

Brian Ó hEadhra and Fionnag NicChoinnich perform traditional and contemporary Gaelic, Scottish, and Irish songs with influences from other North Atlantic cultures. Over 25 years, they have performed globally, recorded with acts Anam, Cruinn, and Mackenzie, and contributed to film and game soundtracks. Fionnag won the Trad Awards Gaelic Singer of the Year in 2020, with Brian nominated in 2019. Their albums include TÌR, TUATH, and Càirdeas, celebrated for their cultural significance and production. Mckerron Brechin Ó hEadhra

Fiery tunes and beautiful songs from the Gaelic and Scots tradition by three of Scotland’s finest musicians.  The Scottish trad trio of Charlie McKerron (fiddle), Sandy Brechin (piano accordion) and Brian Ó hEadhra (guitar & vocals) are three accomplished musicians who draw on a wealth of tunes and songs from the Gaelic and Scots traditions.

North Atlantic Song Convention (NASC)

Established in 2020 by co-convenors Brian Ó hEadhra and Emma Björling, The North Atlantic Song Convention (NASC) is an inclusive international network that promotes, celebrates and supports our North Atlantic song traditions. 

NASC hosts its convention once a year at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh, Scotland.  The 2025 convention will be held in early April.  

Traditional Music Forum 

Brian is on the board of the Traditional Music Forum (TMF).  The TMF aims to develop, sustain, support and maximise the potential of traditional music in Scotland.  It provides resources on traditional music for agencies and decision-makers; it encourages skills development and knowledge sharing among its members.  

Past Bands & Music Projects

Over a career spanning 35 years in music, Brian has sung and played, toured and recorded with some of the top artists in the traditional and folk music scene in Scotland and Ireland.  They include Anam, Cruinn, Upstairs in a Tent/Brian Finnegan, Christine Primrose, Cliar, Deaf Shepherd, Nuala Kennedy, and Mike Vass.  

He has also led innovative and culturally rich music projects such as the Blas Festival, Geiteberg Folk Festival, Nòs Ùr Celtic & Scots Song Competition, Leit International European Minority Language Song Competition, Inverness Acoustic Music Club, Ceòl Nis, Fèis Taigh Dhonnchaidh, Cuairt nan Gàidheal.
